About Rhian Elin

Rhian (Ree-an) Elin McKernan, known professionally as Rhian Elin, is a Melbourne-based guitarist, songwriter and singer.

Rhian grew up in Barry, Wales, in a musical family. At eight years old, she was drawn to the guitar after hearing her mother learning a 12-bar blues and she’s been dedicated to it ever since. Playing the same guitar that she learned on all those years ago, she believes music helps process emotions that can feel too big to hold and aims to remind others they are not alone.
If you've been to a Rhian Elin show, you'll know that everything feels electric. Her vibrant energy, skillful musicianship and authenticity charge any space she holds, often surprising those who may not have expected Texas-blues style licks reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughan - especially when they come from a smiling, jovial personality.

Rhian’s musical path took her through formal studies at university, where she founded the Rhian McKernan Trio, performing at festivals and venues across the South West of England and Wales. As Zed Alley, she toured bars and venues across New Zealand, Australia and Canada, refining her craft along the way.

Returning to the live music scene in 2024 as Rhian Elin following a hiatus, Rhian has released her highly anticipated music, a captivating blend of what she likes to call ‘glittery blues pop.’ Her live performances, backed by her talented band, reveal the raw blues and rock influences from her formative years. With a focus on intricate songwriting, arrangements and seamless improvisation, Rhian Elin is a rising force in the music world. With plans to release previous works as well as record an album in 2025, her future is looking brighter than ever.
